About this model

The Northstar-D combines an EPA 2020-certified wood fire with automatic combustion control. Its generous firebox accepts long cordwood loads, and the manufacturer advertises up to ten hours of warmth per load under suitable conditions. Optional Heat-Zone ducting can send warmth to another area.

Standard features

EPA 2020-certified wood-burning appliance with automatic combustion control and convection fans.

Firebrick, operating door, supplied noncombustible facing material and protective metal hearth strips are included.

Outside-air hood/collars, attic insulation shield and the CAK4A chimney-air kit for a listed SL300 chimney configuration are supplied; site-specific duct and chimney runs are separate.

Required components

A complete listed chimney system, appropriate termination, firestops/supports and roof flashing must be selected for the installation. Do not substitute arbitrary chimney parts.

A compliant hearth extension, protective hearth details, framing and noncombustible finish materials are required. Measurements and clearances must follow the exact model manual.

Complete the outside-air duct connection, hearth extension and required fascia/finish package. Supplied hood and collars do not include the entire duct run. Electrical supply is needed for fans.

Optional features and accessories

Heat-Zone-WD-C heat-distribution kit, Mesh-HHT-C firescreen, LINTEL BAR-HHT lintel kit, and OA-RD-6 outside-air offset adapter are separately selected where applicable.
